Agriculture is
the driving force of the rural economy. But the prevailing agricultural
technologies and crop cultivation practices are so traditional – an identified
reason for low productivity. Introduction and popularization of modern
technologies is therefore a demand of the time. Modernization of agriculture can
be effective step towards revolutionary changes in the national economy.
To make the
rural agriculturists aware of benefits of modern production technologies and
crop management practices and also to encourage them to adopt those
technologies, SSS has undertaken the Agricultural Extension Services Programme
and has established several agro-production farms and processing units
demonstrating improved production and processing technologies.
The main purpose
of this programme is to assist farmers exploiting the production potential of
their available land, and thereby to achieve self-reliance, through
diversification and intensification of crop cultivation.
Established
several demonstration farms for action research on innovative production
technologies and also to show the farmers on-the-field cultivation practices and
outcomes, the SSS activities in the line include dissemination and
popularization of the proven agricultural technologies including improved
variety seeds of different crops and vegetable. |
