Shahana's Story:   PDF  Print  E-mail

SSS childSSS started a mobile education center outside the brothel and in open field or under the free. Some of the children were studying there. Since then, Shahana came to the mobile education center for study. She looked dirty. After continuing the center in this way for some time, SSS rented a room at the short distance from Kanda Para brothel. All day long, children stayed here and took lessons from concerned teachers about schooling, playing, dancing, singing and so on. Shahana became grown up gradually.

One day, Shahana told to her teacher that she felt embarrassing into the brothel. She added that her mother could not take care of her as she was too busy for sex business with clients.  Even Shahana was not given food in time and she was always deprived from the affection of mothers. Considering the situation Shahana requested SSS officials to take some initiative for protecting her from the brothel.

After investigation SSS found that the mother of Shahana was indebted for Tk.20/25 thousand to the out side people. During this time Shahana's mother was not capable to deal with sex business. In one side she (Shahana's mother) was not capable and the another side, the outside people were pressing her to repay the loan money by any mean.

Having no  any other alternative to repay the loan she took decision to bring down her child Shahana in sex business. When SSS was informed the news that Shahana's mother was trying to bring down Shahana in sex profession, SSS took immediate initiative to establish a home to rescue Shahna from her mother and from brothel for keeping free from sex profession. Within a very short time, SSS rented a house for rescuing the brothel children and within the short period of time, all steps  were taken. By this time Shahana was brought down in sex profession. It is noted here that, Shahana was not matured to come in sex business. Shahana had been pushed hormone injection for rapid growing-up.

Within a year, Shahana gave birth a son and she got some physical illness. At this moment, Shahana came at Shahana Safe Home established earlier. After passing two days at Shahana Safe Home, she was not agree to stay there and came back in to the brothel being instigated by her mother again. One year later, Shahana gave birth a daughter again into the brothel and that time she was fallen about to death. She was admitted to SSS Hospital.

By getting proper treatment from SSS Hospital Shahana came back again to Shahana Safe Home along with her mother and two kids. Now she is in the Sonar Bangla Children Home with full fairness. She has absolutely given up her sex profession for two years. She will never go back to sex profession into the brothel. She wants to live like general people in our society. She expressed her future thinking as follows:

'I want to live in sound like other social people in our society. Now I realize the difference between brothel and outside brothel life. I am passing my time with all the children of Safe Home with full cordial atmosphere. I love them and they love me including my kids. I co-operate with the children in all time as far as possible. All the teachers of  Sonar Bangla Children Home like me very much. Now I do not want to remember my previous life. I hate it. I thank Mr. Abdul Hamid Bhuiyan, Executive Director, other staffs of SSS. I am highly obliged to them as they have helped me to return to normal life in the society. Now my main objective is to establish my kids in the society through proper care and education".
