Asma's Story: She Owns this Crown   PDF  Print  E-mail 

Child with traditional costume"Excellent, extra ordinary, really beautiful, perfect, she owns this crown"  these word's raise from audience voice in 12 June 2004 at Bangladesh Shishu Academy auditorium Dhaka on the occasion of Stop Child Labor day, where  Sonar Bangla Home child Asma participated in dance competition.

Asma read in class nine. Live in Sonar Bangla Children Home won the national crown for her outstanding performance in dance. Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum (BSAF) (an apex body of 201 child focused organization) arranged this competition with support of UNICEF Bangladesh, ILO and government of Bangladesh. Among 201 competitors Asma has been selected first for her exceptional performance in dance.

The program was chaired by Director, Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum, chief guest was Dr. Moin Khan, Minister, Information, Science & Communication,  Government of Bangladesh. Special guests were Senior Assistant Secretary, Ministry of Women & Child Affairs, Gopal Bhattacharia, Country Director ILO, Dr. Nawshad, Director, Planning UNICEF Bangladesh and Dr. M R Khan, National Professor.

Special guests  were praised very much Asma's performance and requested her to utilize the opportunity provided by SSS  fully for her development.

Chief guest said, "I cannot believe Asma is from red-light area, I appreciate SSS for taking responsibility to rescue of these vulnerable children". He said that I believe environment explores hidden talancy.

Chairman of the program Mr. Asgar Ali talked with Asma and encouraged her to continue her effort to bloom. Finally Asma received a prize & certificate from chief guest Dr. Moin Khan.
