SSS has two apex bodies framing policies and governing all its functions and financial management. These are: (a) the General Body and (b) the Executive Committee.
While the General Body is supreme by mandate, the Executive Committee is functionally important in terms of executive powers and functions. Subject to general control and supervision by the General Body, the Executive Committee is virtually responsible for overall direction, administration, management of all activities and financial control. Composed of 31 members representing a wide variety of professional disciplines, the responsibilities and routine functions of the General Body include: - Overall policy guidance and direction for the efficient functioning of the organization
- Approval of annual plan & budget, balance sheet and audited accounts and annual report prepared and presented by the Executive Committee and amend these, if deemed necessary, by way of addition, alteration, modification or substitution
- Delegate such of its power and functions to other authorities, as it may consider necessary and proper
- Appointment of auditors
- Election of members to the Executive Committee
- Such other functions as are entrusted to it
- The General Body exercises/performs all its powers/functions through Annual or General Meetings (AGM). While the AGM is mandatory, the Executive Committee convenes all other meetings, termed as general meetings, as and when necessary
